Catalytic reduction of nitrate by a Rhenium(V) complex: challenges and solutions

On June 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. we had the pleasure to host Assoc. Prof. Jörg Schachner from the University of Graz for a lecture entitled „Catalytic reduction of nitrate by a Rhenium(V) complex: challenges and solutions”

Within the lecture, the bio-inspired chemistry of oxorhenium(V) complexes toward the catalytic reduction of oxyanions was discussed. Similarities to the enzymatic reactions in the reduction of perchlorate ClO4, nitrate NO3 as well as chemical challenges in these unusual reductions, were presented.
